On Friday, February 23, 2024 Nā Peʻa Crew Members from the First Nā Peʻa Cohort in 2014 to the latest Nā Peʻa Cohort of 2023 gathered at Kailua Pier to rig our canoes in preparation for the Celebration of Life for Nā Peʻa Crew Member Ruth Mersburgh.  We then gathered at the caretaker shack at the Outrigger Hotel in Keauhou for an evening dinner and sharing of old stories.  On February 24 we took Ruthieʻs ashes  out on our Nā Peʻa canoes along with the double hull Kinikini, the catamaran Noanoa and two double canoes from Anelakai Adventures out of Keauhou Bay for the scattering of ashes in Kailua Bay.
